What does a speech therapist know about photography you ask? Turns out more than I ever knew. While I was home on maternity leave, I took hundreds of pictures of my precious boy. I was told by friends and family that I have an “eye” for photography. While my first subject was very cooperative and photogenic, it didn’t seem too difficult to take decent pictures. I even won a Hot Pockets/Got Milk contest for $5000, "Best Photo in Show" award, and numerous blue ribbons along the way. I have since taken a few online courses and a hands-on class at Olympus headquarters to learn all about my Olympus Evolt 500 digital SLR camera. Other than that I just experiment often and my camera is my prized possession that is always nearby. I seem to have taken a liking to fancy, expensive lenses too. My most recent accomplishment was placing 3rd in a photo contest entitled "Life in the Valley". My photo of Scott and Owen at an Iron Pigs game was selected from 600 photos to be in the top 30 and then judged by professional Olympus photographers to be #3. The picture was published in January 2009 in Lehigh Valley Style magazine. I won a $100 gift card to the Promenade Shops.
Scott told me I should find a hobby. Well, I guess I not only found a hobby, I found a true passion. Thanks for letting me share one of my loves with you. I appreciate the love and support of my family and friends who have encouraged me to launch MY CORNER OF THE WORLD.com
Me with my 2 photogenic cuties!
